National Exposure for CATS
Request for Funding
The Opportunity: The CATS National Office is gearing up for one of our most extensive promotion campaigns ever. We have an opportunity to gain national
exposure for CATS and the national sales tax idea with a segment on the TV show: Business World News - Spotlight on Success. Therefore, we are requesting funds for this special
project.
Information: Business World News is the creation of a video company (TVA Productions -
www.businessworldnews.com) that is owned by a CATS member. The Business World News spotlights successful businesses and organizations and has syndicated the show with major cable companies
and US Airways. They reach 70 million households on CNBC, CBS affiliates, US Airways and Princess Cruise passengers as paid programming.
TVA Productions is a large film and video production company next to Universal Studios. Under the direction of Jeffery Goddard, they produce script-to-screen
documentaries, TV specials, 70-millimeter WaterScreen attractions, TV sports, corporate videos and direct mail video brochures in every major language.
BWN uses a newsmagazine format and is hosted by well-known news anchors with on location coverage of the featured business/organization. TVA covers all of the
production expenses (which are considerable, looking at the quality of the shows) but require a licensing fee which gives the client (CATS) the unlimited commercial usage rights to exhibit and
distribute an expanded corporate video version of their Spotlight on Success show. For CATS the licensing fee is $15,000.
The goal of CATS is the elimination of the income tax and the IRS, thereby removing a large source of financial suppression on individuals and families. The elimination of the
IRS shores up the Fourth Amendment right of every citizen "to be secure in their persons, houses, papers and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures..."
The CATS goal includes the replacement of the current tax code with a simple, fair, National Retail Sales Tax that dramatically increases economic growth, jobs, and expansion
opportunity.
Being featured on Business World News has the following benefits, which move us toward our goal:
- We can prominently display our web site and 800 number; generating reaches that can be converted into memberships and activated citizens.
- Our strategy is to impinge, and nothing impinges like television. This is the correct medium for our message.
- Being on this show is good positioning as we are on a show that spotlights success. The 'news' format increases the impact.
- The major viewing public of this show is the business owner. The greatest single public we have in CATS is the business owner, so we reach the correct viewing audience.
- By survey of our members, one of the requests of the National Office of CATS was to secure national media. By delivering a stellar show aired nationally, we keep our members energized, in
the upper bands of hope and activity.
- With this show and the licensing agreement, we have a new communication vehicle that can be further distributed to our various publics.
- We can continue to air the program in major metropolitan areas for $2,500 for twelve showings over a six-week period. This is economically feasible.

What former IRS officials say...
This is from a statement that T. Coleman Andrews made following his resignation as commissioner of the IRS during the early 1950s:
"The income tax is bad because it was conceived in
class hatred, is an instrument of vengeance and plays right into the hands of the communists. It employs the vicious communist principle of taking from each according to his accumulation of the
fruits of his labor and giving to others according to their needs, regardless of whether those needs are the results of indolence or lack of pride, self-respect, personal dignity or other attributes
of men."
"The income tax is fulfilling the Marxist prophecy that the surest way to destroy a capitalist society is by steeply graduated taxes on income and heavy levies upon the estates of people
when they die."
and then this:
"I don't like the income tax. Every time we talk about these taxes we get around to the idea of 'from each according to his capacity and to each according to his
needs'. That's socialism. It's written into the Communist Manifesto. Maybe we ought to see that every person who gets a tax return receives a copy of the Communist Manifesto with it so he can see
what's happening to him.
-- Former IRS Commissioner T. Coleman Andrews, May 25, 1956 in US. News & World Report.
"....when it comes to the workings of our tax system, I have just about seen it
all, and that experience has led me to the conclusion that we should repeal the Internal Revenue Code and start over. Eight decades.....have produced an impenetrable maze. I favor replacing the
system."
-- Shirley D. Peterson, Attorney, former IRS Commissioner.
"The IRS has become a symbol of the most intrusive, oppressive and non-democratic institution in our democratic society."
-- Former
IRS Commissioner Fred Goldberg.
"... the key question is: can we define 'income' in a fair and reasonably straightforward manner? Unfortunately we have not yet succeeded in doing so. We should repeal
the Internal Revenue Code and start over."
-- Former IRS Commissioner Shirley Peterson, April 1993.
"Eight decades of amendments... to [the] code have produced a virtually impenetrable maze... The
rules are unintelligible to most citizens... The rules are equally mysterious to many government employees who are charged with administering and enforcing the law".
--Former IRS Commissioner Shirley
Peterson, April 14, 1993 at Southern Methodist University.
"Today the income tax is in trouble, because its exaction's are forcing the middle class into poverty, and IRS abuses are routine."
-- Paul Craig Roberts, former Asst. Secretary - U.S. Treasury.
"The (tax) system is so sick that we must put it to sleep and start over."
-- Richard Davis, former Assistant IRS Branch Chief.
People are waking up
People all over the U.S. are finally waking up to the fact that all taxes are ultimately paid by individuals and NOT businesses, corporations or any other organizations.
Citizens are learning and
becoming aware of the truth regarding ANY attempt to tax business. More and more people understand that these types of taxes are simply passed on to the consumer in the form of higher prices.
As we
wake up to the knowledge of the insidious "hidden taxes", we, as a people, are beginning to demand that this type of taxation cease. Since we will NEVER know how much we really pay in
taxes as long as we allow businesses to be taxed, our goal should be to put a stop to this scam once and for all.
Every time you hear someone talk of a plan to tax this business or that business, you
should remind the speaker of who will eventually end up paying those taxes - without having any idea of how much they are paying.
We need to see how much government costs. We deserve to know the true
burden, in dollars and cents, placed on us by this political machine. As it stands under the current income tax system, you and I have no idea how much we pay in taxes every year. It is impossible to
calculate, due to the different amounts of these hidden taxes embedded in every product and service that we spend our hard-earned money on.
Only a national sales tax, collected on the final point of
sale, will be visible for all to see. Then it will be a simple matter to multiply the total amount of money you spent in a year by the sales tax rate. When that happens you will see exactly how much
of your money our government takes.
It may come as a shock, but at least you will not be fooled into thinking the amount is different than it really is, as under the current income tax system or with
the proposed "flat tax" (another income tax in sheep's clothing).
