Dan Pilla’s
"2000 Taxpayers’
Defense Conference"
Do you or anyone you know have tax problems?
For the past 20 years, Daniel J. Pilla has amassed a tremendously successful record of wins in IRS negotiations and is considered by many to know more about the IRS code than the IRS itself! He has championed the cause of taxpayer rights, is the author of nine self-help IRS Defense books, and has promoted the national retail sales tax as THE solution to the abuses of the IRS and the income tax.
Many of you may have watched the CATS video: "National Retail Sales Tax - Economic Freedom for You & Your Family - Eliminate The Income Tax & The IRS", by nationally renowned tax expert Daniel J. Pilla.
If you attend out meetings regularly, you have probably seen this inspiring video one or more times. National Retail Sales Tax advocate and supporter, Dan Pilla, makes one of the most moving arguments for a national retail sales tax that I have ever seen.
Dan Pilla is a nationally regarded expert in IRS procedures with over 20 years experience assisting people with tax problems. Dan's proven techniques effectively manage and resolve tax debt delinquencies of every kind.
If you are one of the many people who have IRS problems, you will be glad to know that Daniel J. Pilla is coming to Las Vegas!!

Letter to the editor
Local CATS member Marvin Wear had another Letter-to-the-editor published recently. This time it was in response to a letter sent in by another Las Vegas SUN reader regarding the proposed casino tax increase in Nevada. Here it is:

Letter: Casinos will make us pay
Ann McFee's recent letter brought to my attention that the vast majority of people are totally unaware of the fact that all taxes are ultimately paid by them. People still do not realize that any tax on business is, and must be, taken into consideration by that same business as a cost of doing business, in other words a business expense.
Any business that fails to calculate in all business expenses is inviting certain bankruptcy. The public, uneducated in the basic principles of taxation, is fooled once again into demanding that these businesses "pay their fair share," not realizing that it will be them, the public, who will pay the final bill for this new or added tax. A recent survey that I had read in the Review-Journal showed that Nevadans overwhelming approve of state Sen. Joe Neal's proposed tax on casino profits.
Wake up, people! Who will end up paying for Neal's tax increase? That's right ... you and me. Remember when we could get breakfast at Jerry's Nugget for 49 cents? No more. Maybe it's because their cost of doing business went up.
Always remember, businesses do not pay taxes, people pay taxes. If you want to win in this game, stop punishing people and/or corporations for being successful. Your time could be better spent trying to be one of them.

CATS NRST E-Update:
(this is an electronic update sent out over the Internet, from the CATS National Office, on September 12, 2000)
Dateline - Burbank, CA. The cable news show, Business World News, continues to include the 7 minute segment on Citizens for an Alternative Tax System, in their community airings across the country. Here is the listing for upcoming shows. We are noticing increased activity to the CATS Web Site as a result of this exposure.
- Sept. 15 New York 8:00 PM Ch 25
- Sept. 18 Los Angeles 8:30 PM Ch. 3
- Sept. 19 Oakland 7:30 PM Ch. 26
- Oct. 6 New York 8:00 PM Ch. 25
- Oct. 18 San Fernando Valley, CA 8:30 PM Ch. 6
- Oct. 20 New York 8:00 PM Ch. 25
- Nov. 3 New York 8:00 PM Ch. 25
If you would like a copy of the segment on video tape, contact Debbie at the National Office. 1-800-767-7577 or e-mail debteune@aol.com.
Dateline - Washington, DC - The Carnivore. The attention received, this summer, by a secret FBI Internet monitoring project dubbed "Carnivore" - (It ferrets out the meat in Internet traffic), points again to the expansion of covert tactics for collecting financial information on citizens. The front door battering ram and seizure technique is being replaced with a far more "efficient" hardware/software solution that can be installed at the offices of your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Carnivore monitors all traffic for key words and also has the ability to collect data on your on-line banking transactions.
Sound impossible and illegal? A judge has already ruled against one ISP who wanted to deny access to the FBI.
There are many reasons to move away from our income-based tax system. With a sales tax, you have no direct connection with the government. The tax collection agency has no reason to look for such data and no place to go with it if they do. Privacy, as an argument for fundamental tax reform, is not "real" to everyone as they have not experienced the downside. Nevertheless, we know from a historical perspective this kind of activity, unchecked, accelerates the downward spiral of distrust and heavy handed tactics - both an anathema to a free society.
Dateline - Manassas, VA - Presidential Post Card Campaign. Picture this: You are running for President. Out of nowhere, post cards start arriving at your campaign headquarters from people all over the United States stating they are going to vote for the candidate who backs the national sales tax. Day after day more arrive from individual citizens who are tired of politics without substance.
We need financial support to develop the vehicle to distribute these cards. In addition to our newsletter we want to produce a direct mail piece that will go to a mailing list of people who have already had trouble with the IRS. So, help expand the scope of this campaign. Call Debbie at 1-800-767-7577 with your contribution.
Thanks much,
Glenn Wahlquist
